Kae Geurts, LPN, BHS

Hello, my name is Kae, and I am a Death Navigator.

My journey into this work began when I lost my father at the age of 27. Walking with him through his illness and death forever changed how I see life, death, and everything in between. Even though I was surrounded by family, I felt deeply alone. It took me years to understand how the grief of knowing I would never see him again had shaped me. That loss became a driving force in the woman I became.

I have always been me—but my identity shifted so profoundly during that time that it set me on a new path: into health care, and specifically, into palliative care.

As a palliative nurse, I learned that dying is not just a medical event—it’s an emotional, spiritual, and relational journey. Often, the patient was well-supported, but the family was left trying to make sense of the most profound moments of their lives. I found myself drawn to them. Being there, offering clarity, calm, and compassion, felt deeply meaningful. And I knew I wanted to offer that support beyond the walls of a facility.

I truly believe that while our physical bodies may be temporary, the energy of who we are continues on—and that connection doesn’t disappear.

Now, as a Death Navigator, I help people understand the dying process, prepare emotionally for what’s ahead, and rediscover who they are after loss. Whether you are facing death, walking alongside someone who is, or searching for yourself in the aftermath—I’m here to walk with you.

Let’s navigate this journey together.
